Canada’s federal cannabis regulator revoked the licenses held by Alberta Green Biotech last month after inspectors observed unspecified non-compliance at its production site, Health Canada told Marijuana Business Daily.
Health Canada revoked the company’s licenses March 19 following an inspection that took place in February.
Alberta Green Biotech had been authorized to produce dried and fresh cannabis, oil, plants, and seeds, but it was only authorized to sell its products to other cannabis license holders.
Health Canada said Alberta Green Biotech attested that it did not sell any product to medical patients, provinces or territories, because the company was not authorized to do so.
“Although it was permitted to sell cannabis to other licence holders, Alberta Green Biotech Inc. has also confirmed – or attested – that no product was sold,” the spokeswoman said.
In February 2018, British Columbia-based RavenQuest BioMed said it acquired the outstanding common shares of Alberta Green Biotech.
Federal license suspensions and revocations are rare.
In 2019, the licenses of Vancouver-based Ascent Industries were revoked.
Ontario producer CannTrust’s licenses are currently suspended.
However, the latest public inspection data from Health Canada is over two years old.
